MUGHAL-E-AZAM (FILM SCREENING AND CLASSICAL DANCE SHOW)
October 1st -2022.
Mughal-E-Azam, an epic and tragic love story was come on screen of the Indian cinema in August 1960. Lahore Awargi: Seen and the Unseen organized the Film Screening of the classic movie, followed by the Classical Dance Performances and panel discussion on the life of Anarkali. The main objective to plan this creative and entertaining activity is to regenerate the old classic sensations in audience and let them think on the mysteries related to Anarkali. According to the written documentations (Akbar-Nama OR Tuzuk-e-Jahangiri, Jahangir-Nama) it is hard to understand the concept of Anarkali, as this female figure was not recorded in any of this Mughal documentation. In fact, Anarkali was first mentioned by an English traveller, William Finch who visited India in 1608-1611 during the Jahangir’s reign.
Overall, the major objective of arranging this activity was to spread awareness about the art, history and culture via entertainment.
